Digital Paintings FAQs

Orange Light Studios can transform your favorite photograph into a masterpiece !  I can make a digital painting using traditional painting techniques and my computer to reproduce a beautiful work of art for you to cherish forever.  All paintings are high quality Giclee prints stretched on a traditional wood frame.  Canvas prints can be sprayed with PremierArt Eco Shield coating for print performance over 1000 years (extra charges apply).

 

I will provide an estimate based on quality of the original photograph you supply to me, canvas size,  any details you want added/taken out, Photoshop work and the time to produce the painting.  Please remember that any professional photograph will require a copyright release from the original photographer (such as your wedding or portrait photographer).

 

What is a digital painting?

 

Digital painting is a method of creating an art object (painting) digitally and/or a technique for making digital art on the computer.  As a method of creating an art object, it adapts traditional painting medium such as acrylic paint, oils, ink, etc. and applies the pigment to traditional carriers, such as woven canvas cloth, paper, polyester etc. by means of a computer software.

 

Does the quality of the original photograph matter?

 

Yes.  The photograph needs to be sharp and high quality.  We can work with lower quality photos but there may be an extra charge.  This will be discussed during your initial consult/estimate.

 

Does the original photograph need to be a print or a digital image?

 

I prefer high quality digital images.  These reproduce high quality digital paintings.  The image can be emailed, put on a CD or a USB flash drive.  We do accept prints.  Just keep in mind that when a print is scanned into a computer, quality is lost and extra charges may apply to raise the image quality enough so that the requested painting size can be achieved.

 

How long does it take to make a digital painting?

 

The turn around time varies based on several factors.  Usually the turn around time from order placement to delivery is between 4 to 6 weeks.  Shipping fees and taxes do apply.
